The second phase of the COVID-19 vaccination drive has already begun in India, and many people  are still unaware of how the two vaccines - Covaxin and Covishield are different from each other.

DEVELOPER

Covaxin has been developed by Hyderabad-based Bharat Biotech International Ltd in association with the Indian Council of Medical Research(ICMR) and the National Institute of Virology(NIV).

Covishield has been developed by the Oxford-AstraZeneca and is being manufactured by the Serum Institute of India(SII).

TYPE OF VACCINE

Covaxin is an inactivated vaccine, which has been prepared on a tried and tested platform of dead viruses.

This vaccine is developed with Whole-Viron Inactivated Vero Cell  derived technology. They contain inactivated viruses, which can not infect a person but still can teach the immune system to prepare a defense mechanism against the active virus.

Covishield has been prepared using the viral vector platform which is a totally different technology.

DOSES

There is no difference between the two vaccines in terms of dosage. Both of them follow a two-dose regimen, administered 28 days apart.

PRICE OF THE VACCINES

Both the vaccines are being inoculated free of cost at government health set-ups. The government has put a price capping of Rs 250 per dose for private hospitals and clinics.

MODE OF ADMINISTRATION

Both Covaxin and Covishield are intramuscular vaccines.

ಕೋವಿಶೀಲ್ಡ್ ಅನ್ನು ಆಕ್ಸ್‌ಫರ್ಡ್ ಅಸ್ಟ್ರಾಜೆನೆಕಾ ಅಭಿವೃದ್ಧಿಪಡಿಸಿದೆ ಮತ್ತು ಇದನ್ನು ಸೀರಮ್ ಇನ್‌ಸ್ಟಿಟ್ಯೂಟ್ ಆಫ್ ಇಂಡಿಯಾ (SII) ತಯಾರಿಸುತ್ತಿದೆ.

ಲಸಿಕೆ ಪ್ರಕಾರ:

ಕೋವಾಕ್ಸಿನ್ ಒಂದು ನಿಷ್ಕ್ರಿಯ ಲಸಿಕೆ, ಇದನ್ನು ಡೆಡ್ ವೈರಸ್‌ಗಳ ಪ್ರಯತ್ನಿಸಿದ ಮತ್ತು ಪರೀಕ್ಷಿಸಿದ ವೇದಿಕೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ತಯಾರಿಸಲಾಗಿದೆ.

  ಈ ಲಸಿಕೆಯನ್ನು ಸಂಪೂರ್ಣ ವಿರಾನ್ ನಿಷ್ಕ್ರಿಯಗೊಳಿಸಿದ ವೆರೋ ಕೋಶದಿಂದ ಪಡೆದ ತಂತ್ರಜ್ಞಾನದೊಂದಿಗೆ ಅಭಿವೃದ್ಧಿಪಡಿಸಲಾಗಿದೆ. ಅವು ನಿಷ್ಕ್ರಿಯಗೊಂಡ ವೈರಸ್‌ಗಳನ್ನು ಒಳಗೊಂಡಿರುತ್ತವೆ, ಅದು ವ್ಯಕ್ತಿಯನ್ನು ಸೋಂಕು ತಗುಲಿಸುವುದಿಲ್ಲ ಆದರೆ ಸಕ್ರಿಯ ವೈರಸ್‌ನ ವಿರುದ್ಧ ರಕ್ಷಣಾ ಕಾರ್ಯವಿಧಾನವನ್ನು ಸಿದ್ಧಪಡಿಸಲು ರೋಗನಿರೋಧಕ ಶಕ್ತಿಯನ್ನು ಕಲಿಸುತ್ತದೆ.

ಕೋವಿಶೀಲ್ಡ್ ಅನ್ನು ವೈರಲ್ ವೆಕ್ಟರ್ ಪ್ಲಾಟ್‌ಫಾರ್ಮ್ ಬಳಸಿ ತಯಾರಿಸಲಾಗಿದೆ, ಇದು ಸಂಪೂರ್ಣವಾಗಿ ವಿಭಿನ್ನ ತಂತ್ರಜ್ಞಾನವಾಗಿದೆ.

ಪ್ರಮಾಣಗಳು:

ಡೋಸೇಜ್ ವಿಷಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಎರಡು ಆವೃತ್ತಿಗಳ ನಡುವೆ ಯಾವುದೇ ವ್ಯತ್ಯಾಸವಿಲ್ಲ. ಇವೆರಡೂ ಎರಡು ಡೋಸ್ ಕಟ್ಟುಪಾಡುಗಳನ್ನು ಅನುಸರಿಸುತ್ತವೆ, ಇದನ್ನು 28 ದಿನಗಳ ಅಂತರದಲ್ಲಿ ನಿರ್ವಹಿಸಲಾಗುತ್ತದೆ.

ಲಸಿಕೆಯ ಬೆಲೆ:

ಸರ್ಕಾರಿ ಆರೋಗ್ಯ ಸಿದ್ಧತೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಉಚಿತವಾಗಿ ಚುಚ್ಚುಮದ್ದಿನ ಲಸಿಕೆಗಳು. ಖಾಸಗಿ ಆಸ್ಪತ್ರೆಗಳು ಮತ್ತು ಚಿಕಿತ್ಸಾಲಯಗಳಿಗೆ ಸರ್ಕಾರವು ಪ್ರತಿ ಡೋಸ್‌ಗೆ ರೂ .250 ಬೆಲೆಯನ್ನು ನಿಗದಿಪಡಿಸಿದೆ.
